What is Web Hosting? Do I need it for my website?
YES you do. Your digital home "in the cloud" for your website & email. In order to have a website on the internet, it needs online storage. We also include a very powerful control panel for creating and administering email addresses, checking web traffic & stats, etc. Our control panel is very easy to use!
I don't want the Website Editor, but I'll need regular edits...can you help?
You would be a perfect candidate for our Hosting + Monthly Edits Package. We will give you 1 hour of website editing every month. You will be surprised how much we can get done with only 1 hour. This service is PERFECT for our "hands off" clients who aren't willing to use our Website Editor themselves. Once a month you email is what you need added/changed and we'll take it from there. We offer this service for $600/year or if you prefer to pay monthly its $50/month. Don't forget this INCLUDES your yearly web & email hosting fees!!!
What exactly is the Website Editor?
It's a web-based control panel built specifically for your website, enabling you to log-in and EASILY edit your website. NO HTML necessary and NO software to install. ALL online. Our easy to use interface requires little to no training so if you can edit a Word file, you can edit your website.
So everything is "in the cloud" right?
Yes it is. No software. Your hosting control panel and Website editor are ALL online.
Can I use Outlook, Gmail, Mac Mail, etc. with your email hosting?
Yes, of course you can. You can also check your email web based as well. We will also send you the necessary POP3/IMAP info so you can set-up your email on your cell phone as well. Client's often want to have an email automatically forward to another email address, which this system can easily handle as well.
We use and highly recommend Gmail to check your hosted business email. We use Gmail to check our @stoltzdesign.net personally hosted email. How so? We'll show you.
We also use Google Android phones so our Gmail & calendar is automatically synced. This is just 1 example. We have plenty of clients using Iphones, blackberries, some use Outlook, some Outlook Express. All up to you.
How is it billed? How long does it take to set-up?
We bill our clients annually, starting the day the system is set-up. Hosting can be set-up in minutes!
I already have hosting, can I transfer it? What does that cost?
Yes you can. We can handle all of the transferring. We don't charge for transfers, its part of the package! We can help transfer either your domain name or just your hosting. If you have hosting already thats cool too!
If you want to use our Website Editor you will need to transfer your hosting to us!
What types of thing can I track concerning traffic & stats?
Here is an example of what you can expect to see for tracking your website [ example pdf ]. For starters, you can view your traffic stats by day, week, month, or year. You can see unique visitors, website's bandwidth usage, what pages/file are getting the most attention, what operating systems & web browsers are people using, what search engines are people using to find you, WHAT words/key phrases are they using to find you, what external links and external websites are people surfing in from, the list goes....This all sounds like alot but its all very easy to track.
We can also implement Google Analytics into you site. It will be built right into your Website Editor! Most users find this to be a super convenient method.
How do I get a domain name? I need help figuring out a name
This is a service we include at no additional charge. We have helped many clients land the perfect domain name by diligently working with them searching combinations of words. We can help.
Tips for an effective domain name
Business name. DONE. Or Business name + 1 primary keyword (Good for SEO purposes).
Go for the .com or .net or .org. Dafault is .com if you can find a good one available.
Keep it short. Nobody remembers long domain names. Its sometimes tough to pull-off, but worth it.
We can purchase the domain name. If you have it already its easy to point your DNS to our hosting.
I'm still confused. Can you help me once it set-up?
We sure can. We can help you create email addresses, help with your POP3/IMAP stuff, show you how to track your stats & traffic, teach you how to properly use your Website Editor, you name it.
